Mobile Widget Platforms

Martijn Pannevis (MobileCowboys): Mobile Widgets sind ein neuer Trend. In den vergangenen Wochen habe ich deshalb mit zwei Mobile-Widgets-Plattformen experimentiert: Nokia Web Runtime und Opera/Vodafone widget platform.

Beide Plattformen ermöglichen ist, um auf einfache Weise für Handys Applications zu bauen, die auf HTML, CSS und Javascript basieren.

Nokia Runtime funktioniert (logischerweise) nur auf Nokia Handsets. Opera dagegen will mit der Widget Plattform auf Telefonen, Desktop PCs und auch auf Set-Top-Boxen, Internet Tablets und Game Consoles funktionieren. Angesichts dessen, dass Opera für viele dieser Dienste auch den Browser liefert, scheint das realistisch.

Übrigens finde ich es interessant, wie damit die Grenze zwischen Applicationen, Websites und Widgets verwischt wird: Diese neuen Widgets sind eigentlich downloadbare Webapplicationen, die auch Offline funktionieren (und ihre Data aus dem Internet holen).
